Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is centered on not only student success, but student wellness. At VC Academic, we believe that sending a student off to an exam or presentation to be successful means nothing if they don’t feel confident in their abilities and their accomplishments. We work with your student to build their confidence through these tenets:

  • Understanding over memorization. If a student understands the underlying principle, novel situations won’t intimidate them! Analogies, examples, and step-by-step mechanisms are all core parts of our teaching method.

  • Process over answers. Getting the correct answer isn’t our goal, but rather getting ALL the correct answers! This is only possible if we teach students how to analyze their own mistakes and thought processes.

  • Lots of practice questions. Exposure is so important: if a student answers a question correctly in many different contexts, that means they truly understand!

  • Active over passive learning. Intention is the key in making session and study time productive versus ineffective.

  • Adaptable teaching. Tutors can get things wrong too and if something isn’t working for your child, we’ll change course to adapt to them and their learning style. We follow their lead!

  • Promoting a passion for learning. Our sessions are lively and interactive to help students enjoy the process.
